Our clinical history.

Registered Nurse Sheila Baxter began training in laser therapy for mental health and addiction treatment in 1998. Following a formal technology review and professional recognition by the Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia (now the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives), she established the Nanaimo, BC clinic in 1999.

Drawing on decades of experience as a Registered Nurse and accredited Laser Therapist, Baxter developed the LCH Technique®, an exclusive outpatient treatment model designed to address addiction, support mental health, and assist with nervous system regulation. The program integrates structured clinical protocols with practical strategies intended to support long-term behavioural change.

Over more than two decades of practice, the clinic has operated with a focus on professional standards, strict confidentiality, and clearly defined scope of care. Services are delivered in-clinic and, when appropriate, through province-wide mobile treatment. Training and certification in the LCH Technique® are available to regulated health professionals seeking to incorporate the model into their practice.
