Registered Nurse Sheila Baxter opened Western Canada’s first laser therapy mental health and addiction treatment centre in 1999.

Laser Centers for Health was established by a Registered Nurse in Nanaimo, B.C. in 1999.

Based on decades of clinical practice, she developed the LCH Technique® system for treating addiction, mental health conditions, and issues related to nervous system regulation.

Sheila Baxter has had a long career in nursing, with experience across psychiatry, intermediate care, brain and spinal surgery, post-operative recovery, and paramedical nursing. In 1999, she established Western Canada’s first laser therapy clinic focused on mental health and addiction treatment in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Drawing on decades of clinical experience, Baxter developed the LCH Technique®, a structured outpatient model integrating laser therapy with behavioural health support. Her work has focused on advancing non-pharmacological approaches to addiction treatment and nervous system regulation within a defined clinical framework.
